Sunday Rituals to Make Your Week Easier

Sunday Rituals to Make Your Week Easier

We all have felt that feeling.  Sunday has officially arrived, and we only have so much time left to enjoy before we return to the grind.  Monday will soon be here, and it brings deadlines, emails, and responsibilities along with it.  Sunday can feel like our one last hurrah before we have to buckle in for the work week to make dem bills.  Still, the impending threat of Monday adulting can bring a good mood down on a Sunday, but it doesn’t have to.  It’s all about healthy habits right?  Why not make your week seem easier and happier while still enjoying your Sunday with some good habits and rituals to make you feel prepared and unthreatened by the hurricane of responsibility.  Trying to add some of these rituals to your Sunday schedule can help get you into the mindset that it's not the end of the world when Monday rolls around.

1. Pamper Yourself

It can be hard to remember once the responsibilities of the week begin but I always make it a point to spoil myself on Sunday.  Sometimes that means a deluxe bath, extended facial routine or a visit to the nail salon for a pedicure.  Whatever makes you feel pampered at its finest, try to fit it into your schedule.  It is an excellent way to recharge and get into a happy mindset before the week starts.  My Sunday pamper routine involves everything from a bath bomb to a face mask, but if you are curious, you can always see my usual routine here.

2. Clean Laundry

I hate when Monday arrives, and I’ve run out of clean underwear.  I'm 28 now, and it really puts a cramp in my style.  For me, nothing feels like being prepared for a week knowing I have clean sheets and clothing.  I make sure to wash everything that is important, so I don't have to worry about running out of towels or undies and knowing I get to rest in a clean bed each night is the cherry on top of a week long good mood.

3. Grocery Shop til You DroP

I am a big believer in meal planning for budgetary reasons though I hate meal prepping.  There is just something about having a Thursday lunch made on Sunday that grosses me out.  I like to plan my meals so that I can know which days I can look forward to being lazy since I will just enjoy leftovers. If you plan out your meals and write your grocery list, grocery shopping can be a quick and painless process so why wait until the middle of the week, after work when you're tired and just want to be home?

*Also, don’t forget your reusable grocery shopping bags.  I can't get enough of these!

4. Organize weekly planner

It really doesn’t take that long to sit down and make little reminders in your planner (personally, I LOVE my rifle paper co one).  I usually make sure to jot down any lunches or appointments and double check that no plans have changed.  I also like to write down necessary chores and important reminders that I need to get done on a specific day.  If it's important, then write it down for the week because it's easy to forget things, even the important stuff.

5. Write out goals for week

This one holds hands with organizing my weekly planner (at least for me) since I typically write them out across the top of my week!  It can be anything from creating 20 new designs or look for the perfect wrap dress (which I am desperately looking for in case anyone has any hints).  Maybe you can even pin them up on the wall so you can look at them using this freebie goal list I made!

6. Partake in a favorite hobby

This is one of the most important ones.  I consider skin care a hobby of mine which is why I put such an emphasis on pampering oneself but maybe you don’t have a need to lay in a bathtub with a mask on while Gilmore Girls plays on your iPad (living the best life I know how).  Sometimes, however, the mood will strike to re-binge some Doctor Who (I CAN’T WAIT FOR THE 13TH DOCTOR HOLY CRAB CLAWS!) Whatever it is you love to do, do it on Sunday.  Put yourself to bed in a good mood coming off a natural high of partaking in a hobby that makes you genuinely happy.  Not only will you go to sleep feeling good, but it will also help set the tone for the rest of your week.  Start off as happy as you can be and then strive to keep it at that level because there really isn’t such a thing as a long week.  It’s always only seven days and if we remember to take care of ourselves and try to be our happiest, those seven days can go by real quick.
