An INFJ Advocate Advocating the Meyers-Briggs Type Indicator Test
You may or may not have noticed, but it’s cool to be an INFJ, I think because they are considered rare. I guess finding an INFJ is like finding a rare, beautiful fairy flower in a sea of regular fairy flowers. Honestly, I don’t get the obsession with INFJ’s, especially being one. That’s right everyone; I am a rare and beautiful fairy flower according to the MBTI results. Reading my results was like reading a description of everything I felt. I especially connected to the “constantly feeling like an outsider” only I replaced outsider with a weirdo. Still, lately, I’ve seen blog posts and Instagram bios highlight the apparent mystical beauty that is INFJs. It’s almost as if they are a trend? It’s strange to me, but even more strange is the fact that no one is advocating for more people to go and TAKE THE TEST! So here I am. Not to tell you about how cool and deep I am because I am an INFJ (but I will happily break the illusion and let you know it’s most likely Hitler was also an INFJ so take that you trend whores) but because the Meyers Briggs Type Indicator test is a cool way to get some insight on yourself or your significant other.
I don’t need to get deep into the break down of the test because a simple google search will find plenty of explanations written by people far more qualified than me to explain it to you. If you want the Sparkley Ass Bitch Gist though then here it is: it’s a multiple choice test that measures traits of your personality and reveals a preferred pattern based off of four dichotomies. In the end, there are 16 possible personality outcomes all based on introverted vs. extroverted, intuition vs. sensing, feeling vs. thinking and judgment vs. perception. You won’t see both judgment and perception in your personality because according to the test, you can only be one.
I don’t know what inspired me to take this test a few months ago, but after reading my results, I immediately told my fiancee to take it as well. After he had finished, we both spent hours learning about one another, and I can honestly say since we did that, I feel like our communication has never been better. I feel as if I have a window into who he is and why he does some things that always perplexed me in the past. He is an ENTP aka The Debater, and the name fits him perfectly. Now let me be clear, Grant and I have ALWAYS had strong communication. We have always been able to talk to one another and be clear and concise while addressing each other's needs but now I feel like I understand him just a little bit more which has made it even easier to communicate with him. Which in turn, has strengthened it. I have also pushed some of my closest friends to take the test, especially when they have expressed a sense of feeling lost. Not because the analysis will provide them any answers, but because it’s always nice to have some outside insight that prods one to do some (hopefully) substantial reflection.
And that is where I see the value in taking this test. There are plenty of people who will describe the test and the results as pointless but there will also always be naysayers so don’t listen to them and give this a try. All your risk losing is 15 or so minutes of answering some simple questions. Also, answer honestly. Don’t say what you think you should say or what you think you want to hear in your personality. The answer according to what you would do, what naturally feels right and go with that because that is who you are. There are no bad personality type results. Afterall, I'm an INFJ and apparently so was Hitler, so it's not the personality type that is going to make you a bad or good person. It is the decisions you make along the way at the end of the day so take the test and maybe have your partner take it and use the insight it provides to be the best you, you can be.

It is not the official test but out of everything I have played with and researched, this seemed to be the most accurate. Also this is NOT a sponsored post - I am just obsessed with personality types. Comment below with your results if you take it and what you think! I'd love to know!
